On a sunny day in June of 2018, over 230 friends and family members gathered to celebrate the marriage of April and Brett at The Barn at Mader Farm. This stunning wedding venue overlooks the sprawling green hills in Genesee, Idaho. It provides the perfect backdrop for a tranquil, rustic celebration in a gorgeous barn on a working farm.

Stellar vendor relationships

When April and Brett first enlisted our help for their ceremony and reception, they told us they were looking for a rustic, romantic ambiance with plenty of crowd-pleasing food for their guests to enjoy. We worked with them to craft their perfect menu. We also provided décor and other enhancements that pulled everything together for their big day.

We were fortunate to work alongside talented vendors. Event Planner Courtney Sams helped us bring their vision to life. And thanks to stellar photographer Caitlin Houser of Caitlin Houser Photography, who captured memories for the couple to look back on for years to come.

Setting the scene of romance

April and Brett envisioned the Barn at Mader Farm dressed in navy and blush tones with olive and cream accents. The barn’s lush, green scenery was complemented by dazzling string lights that only enhanced the romantic setting. The couple’s handmade centerpieces featured a triangle of three branches, signifying the union of their lives together. The venue showcased heartfelt photos of April and Brett, surrounded by wood accents, ball jars filled with battery-powered candles and white brush. The handwritten signs added a special personal touch.

A heartwarming ceremony

The outdoor ceremony was truly breathtaking. A pair of beautiful barn doors was placed at the entrance leading to the altar. Guests sat together on white chairs and waited in anticipation for the couple to emerge. The guitarist played sweet melodies while Brett and his mother walked down the aisle to take their places, followed by their bridal party and not one, but two gorgeous flower girls who stole the show. April walked down the aisle to meet her husband-to-be under the wooden trellis with a lovely floral arrangement; it was an emotional moment for everyone.

A reception to remember

After the ceremony, guests headed toward the bright red barn doors. The meal was set buffet-style outside the venue on long tables with blue linens, accented with rose gold runners and farmhouse-style décor. Guests enjoyed the mouthwatering menu items April and Brett had requested including:

  • Sliced Tri-Tip with Dijon Mustard Brandy Sauce
  • Grilled Chicken Angelo, Airline Chicken Sautéed with Chablis, Lemon Artichokes, Sweet Butter, Fresh Herbs and Capers
  • Creamy Mashed Potatoes, Yukon Potatoes Cooked and Blended with Sweet Butter, Sweet Cream, Onion Powder and Seasonings
  • Green Beans with Caramelized Onions
  • Market Greens Waldorf Salad, Field Greens, Fuji Apples, Candied Pecans and Blue Cheese

After enjoying a delicious meal together, guests were ready to get the party started. The second part of the reception kicked off with beautiful speeches by the maid-of-honor, best man, parents and Brett. This was followed by the mother-son and father-daughter dances below a dreamy, rustic chandelier. The newlyweds cut the cake, which was topped with a sparkly “G,” signifying their new shared last name. It was a truly magical day.

After the wedding, April said, “Brett and I, as well as both of our families, were so happy with how the food turned out for our rehearsal dinner and wedding reception. Everything from picking the menu to deciding decor to arranging set up was a breeze. Happy Day did an amazing job of taking care of everything. It was so nice to sit back and enjoy the day with my family and let someone else do the behind the scenes with the food. Everything was flawless and really professional. I would recommend Happy Day again and again.”
